Lithuanian side FBK Kaunas have knocked Scottish giants Rangers out of the Champions League (full match report here).
The writing was on the wall when Rangers lost 4-0 to Liverpool on Saturday. After the game, Rangers manager Walter Smith said, "We have to get up and playing - there is no running away from that - and we must do it very quickly."
It didn't happen. The loss means that Rangers will drop out of European competition completely this season, without even the UEFA Cup as consolation. Now, with last year's European success a distant memory, Rangers stand to lose a potential £12m in revenue.
Perhaps this setback will help The Gers focus on their domestic challenge; Celtic have taken the last three SPL titles. They cannot afford to fall further behind their Old Firm rivals.
