I'm annoyed at that ruling, but for me Sepp Blatter whining about 'the olympic spirit' is absurd. If FIFA had had the foresight to get this tournament on the international calendar none of this would have happened.
Of course the clubs will look after their own interests, especially when it comes to the uber-money spinning Champions League, created by sports administrators of Blatter's ilk who didn't spare much thought for the 'spirit' of sport at that point.
